Covid can't stop Creativity- A socially distanced shoot.
Bridal Revival is a relatively new venture and I really wanted to get some photos of my vintage dresses on a real person, rather than on a hanger. Lockdown obviously made this a little more challenging than usual and forced me to think outside of the box.
I put a request out for a model and photographer on a social media community group and Joe Miles from Image Capture Photography and Caroline, our model, were keen to help out.
Joe moved to Leeds from down south around a year ago and had dreamed of doing a dramatic bridal shoot up at the Cow and Calf rocks where he was a regular visitor with his family.
Caroline is a gorgeous curvy lady with a love of all things vintage. She did a splendid job of her hair and makeup as using a professional wouldn’t have been possible with social distancing measures still in place.
I delivered the dresses and accessories to Caroline in advance and she met Joe and I at the shoot location. The faux flower peony and anemone bouquet was made by myself; a new skill that I have acquired in lockdown, and will be reused for future projects.
We were lucky that we chose a warm sunny evening for the shoot, the flipside was that there were lots of other people also enjoying the scenery and fresh air! Caroline was congratulated on her marriage by a passer-by which was a little awkward, and she caused a bit of a stir up on the Moors!
For the first set of photos we stopped around half way up the path with the rocks in the background. Caroline was wearing a vintage cream and gold column dress with a cathedral veil and vintage pearl jewellery. Joe got some great shots with the wind catching the veil and Caroline was an absolute pro, balancing on the rocks in heels and smiling throughout.
For the second set of photos we walked right up to the top of the rocks; by this time the sun was beginning to set and the sky was a stunning orange colour, making for some incredibly dramatic shots. Caroline was wearing a pink fitted vintage dress with a pink pearl necklace and diamante earrings and bracelet, her long red hair flowed beautifully in the breeze and she looked relaxed and happy.
We had so much fun doing this pared back shoot with just 3 people, a tight budget and time frame and a whole lot of resourcefulness and creativity. We are thrilled with the results and hope that by sharing the images we will inspire couples to get out in the Yorkshire countryside for their wedding photography.
